Carpenting

A carpenter or joiner is a craftsperson skilled in the use of wood. There are several categories of carpentry, each involving different skills, so ensure you choose the right one, the different carpenters, and a brief description is below:

Rough Carpenter- This tradesman takes care of unseen carpentry, such as roofing, framing, or formwork. This is a very important part of carpentry, but goes unseen.

Finish Carpenter or Joiner- This worker focuses on wood where joint and minimal margin are vital and very precise, Finish carpenters deal with furniture making, carpentry, model building and instrument making.

Trim Carpenter- This tradesman deals with trims and mouldings, such as skirting boards mantle pieces, window casings and ornamental work.

Cabinet Maker- These workers are highly-skilled, and concentrate on intricate work, such as drawers, wardrobes, dressers and cabinets.

Joister- This type of carpenter has the role of laying joists (horizontal boards that are connected to the frame of a structure, building, just below the door level to provide strength for the floor.

Roofer- They are responsible for roof construction, dealing with beams, rafters, trusses and repairs to roofs.
Ship's Carpenter- Shipbuilding and repairs to sea bound vehicles and leisure craft.

Framer- These guys build the skeletal structure of framework for buildings and structures.
